Whats all this then?

Early in March 2008, I walked outside at 7:30 pm. It was warm for a winters day, and the sunset was overwhelming. I took out my phone and snapped a picture.

The next day, I found myself driving home from work at about this same time. Again, I loved the sunset. I intended to take sunset photos – for my own enjoyment – for the next few days. But as rain came down that Wednesday and Thursday, out went my “sunset project” as I had been calling it. So I modified it a little bit. To photo blog my activities around the 7 -8 pm hour.

Taken in a larger scope, I have a strong interest in memory; what I remember, what we collectively remember, things “worth remembering.” As technology advances and we grow to document our lives to an infantecimal point, our memories are changing. I have a pretty awful short-term memory, in an “absent minded professor” kind of way. I have a strong story-memory, long emotional memory (who doesn’t), and pretty good factual memory. In short, I won’t be writing in this space about my…feelings…rather just capturing what I do from day to day. If there isn’t a post on a given day, it’s probably because I find myself in front of the tv or computer screen, or doing another, less exciting, activity. So this project, in whatever realm it takes on, will help me remember. (And it really isn’t as melancholy is that all sounds.)

And if you are interested, I’m a normal person. I work at a place I like, have friends and family I love, and am in my early 30′s. I won’t post photos that will be harmful to myself or anyone, because that would be silly. If some of the photos look super fuzzy, it’s because I probably cropped them.
